When analysing these National data profiles please keep in mind Observatories typically gather small, medium and large scale disaster data (with no minimum inclusion criteria), aggregated at municipality or equivalent level, and for a period normally between 30 and 40 years.

Global data (EM-DAT) based profiles:

For those countries where there is no GRIP National Disaster Observatories we have prepared country profiles based on the information contained in the EM-DAT OFDA/CRED International Disaster Database available at http://www.emdat.be.

When analysing Global data profiles please keep in mind EM-DAT includes disasters aggregated at country level, from 1900 until present, which fit at least one of the following criteria:

   •10 or more people killed;
   •100 or more people affected;
   •declaration of a state of emergency
   •Call for international assistance
