Global Risk Identification Programme (GRIP)

GRIP is a multi-stakeholder initiative that directly aligns with the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA)'s Priority Area 2: risk identification, assessment and monitoring. Although hosted by the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, GRIP's structure, is inherently multi-stakeholder, as it is a set of harmonized activities contributing to commonly-agreed-upon objectives. Dozens of organizations have been involved in its preparation, design and implementation. GRIP's programme design reflects the information and support needs identified by the risk identification community. As one of the key thematic platforms for the implementation of the HFA by the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) system, the programme was officially launched in 2007 at the 1st session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction and has been adopted by the ISDR system to support worldwide activities to identify and monitor disaster risk. Its goal is to reduce disaster losses to ensure sustainability worldwide.
