Services to Countries
GRIP has developed a comprehensive solution to support the countries to implement risk assessment of different levels and understand the risks they are facing. This solution package consists of 5 services:
- Country Situation Analysis
A tool to understand existing capacity and needs of a country for disaster risk assessment and management;
- National Disaster Observatory
Sustainable institution for the systematic collection, analysis and interpretation of disaster loss data;
- National Risk Assessment
Multi-hazard assessment to have a clear idea of magnitude, distribution, characteristics, causes and possible mitigation options of current risk;
- Urban Risk Assessment
Identification of the magnitude, distribution, characteristics, causes and possible mitigation options of risks faced by urban areas in a country.
- Capacity for Risk Assessment
Trainings on risk assessment and use of the results in decision and policy making.
Technically, GRIP’s support and services to the countries cover a typical project cycle and include 15 aspects of support:
- Overall vision on DRR based on risk assessment;
- preparation of concept notes;
- Scoping workshop;
- Proposal development;
- Review and evaluation of technical proposals;
- Proposal finalization;
- Access to financial support;
- Interaction with other countries;
- Coordination and overview;
- Provision of appropriate methodologies and tools;
- Hands-on trainings;
- Technical support and advice;
- Monitoring and review;
- Result review and evaluation;
- closing workshop.
These services will be provided through GRIP coordination team, GRIP’s network of Regional Technical Support Centers, UNDP Country Offices, UNDP's Regional Disaster Reduction Advisors (RDRA) and National Disaster Reduction Advisors (NDRA)
