The Armenia country factsheet illustrates GRIP country support to the country, since 2008, also providing an overview of the country’s situation, DRR system, achievements to date and future developments.
Armenia has successfully achieved the following:
SIERA report completed;
preliminary coordination mechanism for NRA initiated;
NDO set-up and relevant documentation s developed (NDO paper, NDO strategy);
NDO being institutionalized: in April 2011, the Minister of Emergency Situations (MoES) of Armenia has signed the decree on the establishment of the NDO as part of the Crisis Management Center of the MoES. The NDO will be integrated into the National DRR Strategy (which is currently under development) to strengthen Disaster Data Management in the country;
In the framework of the collaboration between GRIP and UNV, one UNV volunteer was integrated in the Armenia UNDP second phase project;
MoES of Armenia presented Armenia experience in DRR and risk assessment at the Side Event organized by GRIP, WHO, UN Habitat, WHO, IFRC and UNHCR at the third session of the Global Platform for disaster Risk Reduction, 8-13 May, 2011 Geneva;
National Risk Information System of Armenia developed and available on GRIPWeb;
As an effort of promoting South-South Cooperation, with GRIP’s support, Armenia is assisting Macedonia and Moldova to establish a NDO;
A study tour of a delegation from Moldova (UNDP CO staff and government officials) organized, in December 2011, for the establishment of NDO in Moldova, with GRIP support.
