The database covers 3 decades. In every decade there are periods with high and low number of reports of disasters that may be associated with periods of increase and rainfall deficits. Peaks of reported events have been noticed in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1983, 1994 and 1998.
The areas with highest number of reported events are: Lima, Arequipa, Ancash, Piura, Cuzco and Junin. Departments with fewer reports are those located in the jungle area of the country.
The database contains information related to 32 types of events. The flood events has the highest number of reports, followed by rains, landslides, fire and pollution, which account for about 55% of the data.
