Center upholds the fact that safety of the city is the premise and goals of the urban development, combined with the impact of urban safety and development problems in the world and China's urban development process, from the perspective of academic research to study the causes of problems, finding effective solutions to the problems, provide suggestions on the problems raised in the process of government and society.

The goal of this center is to help public to better understand and solve urban problems when
dealing with the impact of urban safety and development, and also to promote urban studies, through which to enhance Shanghai University of Political Science and Law’s relevant academic research influence nationally and internationally.

Research Areas and Objectives:

• To engage in the work of urban safety and development;
• To culture urban security and development professionals;
• To promote academic cooperation and exchanges in safety and development of domestic and international cities;
• To provide professional consultations for urban safety and for city governments and companies;
• To release and compile regular publication of research outputs on urban safety and development;
• To establish urban safety and development database and the Center website.
