In order to prevent human life and to reduce damage resulted from landslide, Turkey and Moldova established a collaborated project of landslide assessment. Technical progress consisted of four stages, namely preparatory stage (selection of study areas, purchasing equipment and data, compilation of available reports and documents etc.), ASID stage (identification of landslides, air photo interpretation, digitizing works etc.), field studies (observations and mapping, accomplishments of landslide inventory and database), parametric assessments (meteorological and earthquake data assessment, parametric weight assessments). As of Oct.1 2010, the project has completed most tasks of the first stages and partially the meteorological and earthquake data assessments. Final research results will be implemented in developing new regulations on territory protection, existing and currently designed buildings, infrastructures, and facilities as well as land management in the Republic of Moldova.
