The Desinventar database for Nicaragua was developed by The Permanent Contingency Commission - National Civil Defense System, through CEPREDENAC, with LA RED in the framework of a technical assistance program for the assessment of the effects of hurricane Mitch in 1998.

 The database, which is hosted by Direction de protection e defensa civil – Ministry of defense only covers 1998. The disaster related information provided includes both human and economic losses. This information was collected from National Civil Defense System and the 1995 census was also included.

The database has been used for the assessment of the effects of hurricane Mitch in 1998.  Users include research institutions and Civl Defense.
