This report documents GRIP Steering Committee (PSC) meeting held in Geneva on October 23, 2006, which marks a transition from GRIP preparation to implementation. The meeting has the following three objectives:
To obtain your feedback on, and endorsement of, the Program design presented in the GRIP Concept Paper that was distributed on September 7, 2006;
To discuss specific GRIP areas of work, your organization’s particular interest in them, and strategies for implementation, including financing; and
To formally conclude the GRIP’s preparatory phase and initiate Program implementation.
The discussions covered the following topics:
Linkages to PSC institutions' programs
Prioritization of activities
Buy-in and performance monitoring
GRIP as an ISDR thematic platform
Additional resource mobilization
The meeting was chaired by Ian O'Donnell of the ProVention Consortium and well attended by 13 reprentatives from the World Bank, the ISDR, ProVention Consortium, USAID, SDC, DFID, UNDP, ADRC, the Government of Japan . Maxx Dilley and Carlos Villacis presented an overview of the GRIP and its governance arrangements and the business plan.
